Intensive medical care
Pferdeklinik Leichlingen has all the facilities, equipment and permanently manned posts to guarantee intensive medical care for our patients at all times. This is essential for horses with, e.g. colic, fever, serious general health or motor system disorders, animals with eye disorders and foals.
We monitor these patients round the clock and are therefore able to reach quick decisions about diagnostic steps and treatment methods based on the current state of health. The continuous monitoring of the intensive care patients is further supported by 24-hour video monitoring of the intensive care stalls.
For serious orthopaedic ailments with severe stress disorders of the extremities (equine laminitis, fractures, etc.), two stalls with equine slings (swinglifters) are available.
Both on-duty veterinarians and veterinary assistants are trained specifically in intensive medical care. The number of staff on duty at any one time varies according to the number of intensive care patients.
